Throughout my academic career, I have demonstrated a sustained commitment to leadership, service, and institutional development across both the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), as well as within the broader discipline of Sociology. At UWC, I have played a key role in academic administration and student support through positions such as First-Year Coordinator in the Department of Sociology, departmental representative on the Faculty Library Committee, and mentor in the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship Programme. My contributions to faculty governance include serving on the Faculty Board of Arts and Humanities and participating in the Teaching and Learning Committee and the Teaching Award Selection Panel. Similarly, during my tenure at UCT, I held several academic and student governance roles, including Co-convener of the General Sociology Stream, member of both the Mental Health and Ethics Review Committees in the Department of Sociology, and active involvement in student leadership structures such as the Student Representative Council, University Senate, and multiple university-wide committees.

Beyond the university context, I have contributed to the advancement of Sociology in South Africa through various leadership roles within the South African Sociological Association (SASA). These include serving as Treasurer, Council Member, Webmaster, and Panel and Conference Organiser. Notably, I co-organised key events, including a national conference on youth, non-violence, and equality. These leadership experiences reflect my ongoing dedication to fostering inclusive, ethical, and socially responsive academic environments that promote both scholarly excellence and institutional transformation.
